Vice President of Accounting

IDW seeks an experience VP of Accounting that will be responsible for managing accounting and finance of both IDW Publishing and IDW Entertainment. The ideal candidate will address tight deadlines and a multitude of activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation, contract evaluation, budgeting, analysis, and forecasting both for internal and external parties. The VP of Accounting is a hands-on leader, responsible for ensuring that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner.


  • Five to ten years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including supervisory roles
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Licensed CPA
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, complex projects and meet deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Advanced Excel capabilities
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Publishing and/or royalty experience preferred
  • Sage Intacct experience a plus

Key Responsibilities

  • Establishes and/or applies policies and procedures to ensure that accounting transactions are in compliance with company policies and are recorded in the financial records in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Works with senior leadership to evaluate new opportunities, assess contract renewals, and provide input regarding deal points and contract language
  • Work cross-functionally with other groups within the organization identifying issues, troubleshooting, and problem-solving
  • Ensure all internal financial statements and reports are prepared and presented in a timely manner
  • Lead annual budget process, forecasting, and long-term financial planning
  • Cash flow forecasting and ongoing management
  • Advises staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions
  • Reviews quarterly royalty statements for accuracy and contract compliance prior to release
  • Point of contact with external partners regarding financial, royalty, or forecast inquiries
  • Lead on IDWP and IDWE portions of the annual audit
  • Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy
  • Hire, train, supervise, and motivate accounting and finance personnel
  • Manages ad-hoc requests and special projects
