Accounting Manager

IDW seeks an Accounting Manager that will be responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting at IDW Publishing. The ideal candidate will address tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities. The Accounting Manager is responsible for ensuring that work is completed in a timely and accurate manner.


  • Minimum of five years of progressive accounting experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, complex projects and meet deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Advanced Excel capabilities
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Sage Intacct experience a plus

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead month-end close of the general ledger
  • Prepare monthly bank account reconciliations
  • Review and approve transactions entered by staff before posting to the general ledger
  • Responsible for monthly inventory analysis and valuation
  • Prepare and post invoices, reviewing and including appropriate documentation
  • Post payments received against open invoices and make timely bank deposits for physical payments received
  • Process weekly check and wire batches 
  • Generate, review, and file annual 1099 reporting
  • Build schedules and provide support for annual audit
  • Support budget and forecasting activities
  • Assist in review of quarterly royalty statements for accuracy and enter into the general ledger
  • Prepare quarterly commission statements for sales team
  • Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy
  • Ad-hoc requests and special projects as needed
